The ClicktoStart Foundation’s Youth Tech Talk and Christmas Gift-giving event, held at The UWI St Augustine campus, aimed to introduce technology to children from underserved communities. Organized on December 9, 2023, this event brought together over 25 children for a day of learning and festive cheer. Abigail Wren, the foundation’s Director, emphasized technology’s role in creating opportunities for the youth. The program featured insights from ICT experts Ria Jack and Richard Ince, along with demonstrations on robotics and Raspberry Pi by scholarship winner Sarah Sellier and computer scientist Nicholas Mendez. The children enjoyed gifts from a “tech” Santa, sponsored by Republic Bank Ltd, and a Christmas lunch set to pannist music. This event aligns with the ClicktoStart Foundation’s mission since 2013 to bridge the technology skills gap among marginalized groups in Trinidad.
